Affordable Housing Application Process
Step 1: Apply online by completing the online affordable housing Information Session.
Step 2: Application is reviewed by the Family Services Department.
Step 3: If the process is continued, an office interview is arranged. Only the applicants & the co-applicant need to attend.
Step 4: A home visit is arranged with the Family Services Department and the applicant.
Step 5: The application is recommended by the Family Selection Committee staff to the Habitat Halton-Mississauga Board of Directors for approval.
Step 6: The applicant will be placed onto a waiting list for a Habitat home.
Step 7: When a home becomes available, the Family Services Department and the applicant meet to sign a partnership agreement, which indicates a commitment of 500 sweat equity hours to be completed.
Step 8: Upon approval, the application will be assigned to a member of the Family Partnership Support Team and the planning process towards home ownership will begin.
Step 9: The Family Services Department and the applicant meet to sign the purchase and sales agreement as well as the mortgage agreement. Please note, programs are subject to change at the discretion of Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga, based on the current real estate and financial market situation.
